The Rio Prialunga flows through the woods of the Monte Beigua natural park, just a few kilometres from the Ligurian Riviera and the town of Varazze, famous for surfing and bouldering. Easily accessible from Genoa, this stream allows us to experience an adventurous and adrenaline-filled day, reserved for the most sporty and daring. Canyoning vista mare.
The approximately one-kilometre-long route has 15 rope descents, the highest of which measure 35 metres. The most spectacular and exciting part is certainly the central one, where the suspended pools and the highest abseiling are located. But the 330 metres of altitude difference are evenly distributed along the route and the waterfalls follow each other to the end. The presence of high and technical rappels requires a minimum of previous experience to enjoy the day.
Practicable from April, the descent presents the best conditions at the beginning of the season. During the summer period, in fact, the water flow is considerably reduced and the descent is then less interesting. The heavy autumn rains that regularly hit Liguria make the descent feasible again after the summer. It should be noted that with high flow rates the passages of the hanging basins can be very difficult, so the descent should only be approached under optimal conditions.
The route of the Rio Prialunga alternates between more open and sunny areas and others that are more recessed and closed, such as the central part of the stream where we find the beautiful hanging pools and the highest waterfalls. This area offers no exit or safety zones and should therefore only be approached safely. The initial and final parts, however, are not too recessed and it is possible to exit through the forest, in the first part on the left bank, in the final part on the right bank.
